Financial Times Wins Media Tenor's Best Business Media Award
EMBARGOED UNTIL 6PM OCTOBER 22, 2013.
Berlin. October 23, 2013 -- The U.K.’s Financial Times was recognized today for the quality its business news coverage at an awards ceremony at the German parliament during Media Tenor's 14th International Agenda Setting Conference.
The Media Tenor Best Business Media Award recognizes the business publication that is most able to provide diverse, informative, and balanced business news coverage. For the period July 1, 2012 – June 30, 2013, 176,338 statements from financial analysts quoted in international financial media were analyzed according to seven criteria.
The seven examined categories were: Analyst source diversity; topic diversity; balance of past, present and future coverage; coverage not focused on price movements; coverage of currency markets; coverage of bond markets and geographic diversity of coverage.
The Financial Times claimed this year's award thanks to strong performances in topic and analyst diversity. The publication also excelled in its coverage of the currency market, and offered forward looking reporting, helping audiences plan for the future.
Additionally, Handelsblatt was named the first runner-up thanks to its wide range of consulted analysts, geographical diversity and provision of in-depth information about price movements.
Les Échos was named the second runner-up for its coverage of the bond markets and price developments. This offered useful background information, current news, and informed predictions.
