Equity picture a mixed bag around the world
Quoted financial analysts, Jan 1, 2015 – June 25, 2015
New York, June 26, 2015. European stocks reflect a mixed bag for investors, according to new research from Media Tenor International that highlights quoted financial analyst caution in the light of monetary policy statements in the U.S., currency fluctuations in Europe, and the looming possibility of the Grexit.
“There’s clear optimism on some markets,” says Racheline Maltese, a researcher at Media Tenor. “German and French stocks are receiving a strong outlook. But Swiss stocks are suffering on currency moves, while extreme pessimism remains on Greece due to the potential Grexit and on Russia due to foreign policy concerns.”
Globally, there’s positive sentiment on Japan and India. “Caution has set in regarding China, however,” Maltese notes. “And the U.S. and U.K. markets are just treading water in terms of sentiment.”
Media Tenor also found a shift towards extreme caution from analysts in terms of predicting what’s next. “They’re waiting for a clear sign. There seems to be a real fear about the reputational impact of making the wrong call.”
This research examined all 26,606 analyst statements in eight opinion-leading business media January 1, 2015 – June 25, 2015.
