Chinese upheaval creates uncertainty for oil companies

Quoted financial analysts, Jan 1, 2015 – August 25, 2015

New York, August 28, 2015. The commodities crisis and upheaval in China has created uncertainty for global oil companies, although those that can weather the storm are seen to be good long-term investments, according to new research from Media Tenor International.

“Quoted financial analysts are making it quite clear that now is a time to avoid the commodities market. However, they frame the current upheaval as a buying opportunity for those oil and gas companies they believe are well-positioned to weather the crisis,” says Racheline Maltese, a researcher at Media Tenor.

“Currently, analysts are cautious about where they expect the market and companies in the industry to go in the short term, but leaders like Exxon, BP, and Anadarko are being framed as good long-term bets,” says Maltese.  Analysts from Morgan Stanley and Pzena Investment Management were particularly visible on this idea of an opportunity play.

This research examined all 35,784 analyst statements in eight opinion-leading business media January 1, 2015 – August 25, 2015.
