Analysts favor discount airlines in challenging environment

Quoted financial analysts, January 1, 2015 – November 3, 2015

New York, November 6, 2015. Analysts have a split opinion on the airline industry in the wake of risks created by regional conflicts and economic conditions. However, sentiment towards discount carriers suggests a potential strategy for investors, according to new research from Media Tenor International.

“Analysts are mostly focused on the condition of the industry as a whole,” says Racheline Maltese, a researcher at Media Tenor. “Customer experience has been a key part of the discussion, with analysts being more favorable to discount carriers, which can reward customers with low prices, and airlines like Cathay Pacific, which have addressed customer needs by expanding service offerings.”

Few analysts are offering a discussion of both positive and negative aspects of investing in the industry, however, with most of those quoted taking a clear positive or negative position. Overall analysts are cautiously optimistic for the industry.

This research examined all 46,438 analyst statements in eight opinion-leading business media January 1, 2015 – November 3, 2015
