Media support consolidating around Clinton despite risks

U.S. TV & print news, October 13 – November 5, 2015

New York, November 6, 2015. Hillary Clinton has consolidated her lead in the media headed into the second Democratic debate, according to new research from Media Tenor International.

“As the field for the Democratic nomination has narrowed, support and media focus has consolidated behind Hillary Clinton. While she still faces high levels of risk due to her front-runner status and issues like the email and Benghazi scandals, her path to the nomination looks relatively clear,” says Racheline Maltese, a researcher at Media Tenor. “However, favorability for Sanders continues to improve. While he faces an uphill battle for the nomination, his challenge remains credible and could serve as a spoiler.”

Media Tenor has found that key issues for the Democrats include financial regulation and gun control, but that the media is currently more focused on horse race issues.

This research examined all 8,191 reports on political figures on three U.S. TV news programs and in eight print publications from October 13 – November 5, 2015.
