Carson with narrow edge as the pack shifts

U.S. TV & print news, November 10 - 15, 2015

New York, November 17, 2015. Ben Carson has a narrow lead in the media race for the Republican nomination, according to research institute Media Tenor International.

“Carson has strong visibility and a relatively positive tone,” says Racheline Maltese, a researcher at Media Tenor. “But, along with several other Republican candidates, he’s losing momentum while Trump attempts another surge.  Meanwhile, Bush’s image has recovered significantly, but it is still unclear if he will be able to make a move to get to the front of the pack.”

Few topics identified as crucial to voters outside of immigration have been the subject of media coverage in campaign season news reporting. “The immigration debate has largely focused on policy towards undocumented immigrants in the U.S. and their relationship to jobs and services. However, in the wake of the Paris attacks, this discussion may seek to refugees from the Syrian conflict, among others."

This research examined all 918 reports on political figures on four U.S. TV news programs and in eight opinion-leading print publications.
