Coffee framed as a risky investment with clear upside

Quoted financial analysts, January 1, 2015 – February 10, 2016

New York, February 11, 2016. Quoted financial analysts have become more positive on coffee as an investment commodity after a period of high volatility and depressed sentiment, according to new research from Media Tenor International.

“Coffee as an investment commodity has had a difficult 14 months in quoted analyst statements as concerns about the impact of weather on production and seasonal demand fluctuations have often been in the spotlight,” says Racheline Maltese, a researcher at Media Tenor. “A more stable weather environment has helped the tone improve in recent months, however,” she says, noting that currency fluctuations between coffee producing and coffee consuming countries have also had an impact on sentiment towards the commodity.

Quote financial analysts clearly framed coffee as a globally relevant commodity, with production and demand being highlighted across multiple continents.

This research examined all 61,453 analyst statements in eight opinion-leading business media January 1, 2015 – February 10, 2016.
