Strong opportunities in tech despite risks for some big players

Quoted financial analysts, January 1, 2015 – April 28, 2016

New York, April 30, 2016. Quoted financial analysts are strongly optimistic on the future of the tech industry despite risks faced by several major players including Apple, Yahoo!, and Intel, according to new research from Media Tenor International.

“Long term, tech and IT companies are in the process of recovering from a period of risk,” says Racheline Maltese. “Quoted analyst sentiment has been on the upswing in the last few months, but there’s still a ways to go before the sector image is stable,” she added. Despite weakness in Apple’s financial reporting, tone from analysts actually improved slightly. “Analysts sought to be reassuring on Apple’s challenges or to look for opportunities, but struggles at other key companies, like Intel and Yahoo! were not greeted so optimistically. Sentiment suggests those looking to invest in the industry get in before they are priced out if analyst predictions are correct.”

Sentiment for the industry was positive in most of the countries analysts focused on, but risks were present in Hong Kong and Japan. Few analysts offered balanced coverage on the sector, with IDC offering the most balanced viewpoint

This research examined all 74,185 analyst statements in eight opinion-leading business media January 1, 2015 – April 28, 2016.
